Description and Requirements
Position Summary
The position requires a Infrastructural Linux server administrator to provide MetLife business customers with best in class support services. We are seeking a senior level distributed Linux Server Administrator with strong knowledge of REDHAT products and Linux infra. Knowledge of Linux OS upgrade is must. The successful candidate will be working with various enterprise application development and core services teams to implement and maintain virtual and hardware platforms as well as installing and maintaining our internal infra. The candidate will be responsible for adhering to documentation for the installation, maintenance, support, and hardware/software procedures for enterprise Linux Infrastructure and VMs.
Job Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and support enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Linux, Ubuntu).
• Plan and execute end-to-end RHEL version upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime
• Perform server provisioning, patch management, system hardening, and lifecycle management
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows for infrastructure management
• Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization measures
• Manage user accounts, permissions, PAM, LDAP, and access controls
• Configure and support services such as DNS, NFS, Samba, SSH, Apache, and load balancers
• Perform troubleshooting of OS, hardware, storage, networking, and application-related issues
• Ensure compliance with security standards, vulnerability remediation, and audit requirements
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
• Work in conjunction with DB Teams to understand and implement the storage related tasks
• Follows operating procedures and utilizes established support tools for analysis and reporting requirements
• Actively participates in project planning to ensure timely and successful completion of projects assigned to Linux server team.
• Interfaces with hardware vendors to maintain and schedule repair of equipment in a timely manner and /or provide hardware repair and maintenance as required.
• Provide on-call 24 x 7 support
• Utilize Powershell and Vbscripts in support of automation of common day-to-day operations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in all phases of enterprise installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems, network and operating systems and storage management

Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

• Good understanding of storage area networks as part of the overall network of computing resources for the enterprise
• Excellent knowledge of operating systems and subsystems, systems software, enterprise design and software and storage management
• Excellent knowledge of network hardware and software, infrastructure and design, topologies and protocols.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
• Ability to foster strong partnerships with business customers, peer groups and vendors.
• Strong customer service focus.
