Department OverviewThe Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for designing and implementing the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline into multiple public and private cloud regions. We develop and operate common platform services that can be leveraged by our Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, ensuring overall reliability and security of these services and the environments they run in. Additionally, we monitor and support these platform and infrastructure services.
Job Description

As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be responsible for developing services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions' engineering teams and deliver solutions to our customers. You will work on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and have a passion for automation, deployment processes, and enabling innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement network and security architecture for core services used by our Public Safety solutions.

Lead platform operations and sovereign operations, including issue troubleshooting and resolution.

Define and meet scalability, availability, security, and performance goals.

Collaborate with product management to rapidly build and evolve major features.

Knowledge of On-perm and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and experience with L3/L4 networking (load balancers/firewalls).

Familiarity with monitoring tools and GitHub.

Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards.

Participate in daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with peers, prioritize features, and work with a sense of urgency to deliver value to customers.

Assist in reviews and audits conducted at various points in the software life cycle.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of combined experience in Platform Engineering, Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Security Engineering.

Experience in On-prem Environment

Experience with infrastructure and distributed systems, Virtualization technology. Having Redhat or any equivalent certification in virtualization is a plus

Experience with one or more of the following strongly preferred: Layer 3/4 Networking design and management; Kubernetes cluster design and management.

Familiarity with Public Safety systems is a plus.

Solid coding and service development skills, with experience in at least one of the following toolsets or languages: Shell, Python.

Ability to develop quality scalable, tested, and reliable applications using industry best practices.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving, growing, and agile environment.

Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn.

Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.

Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.

Having a background in services and cloud computing (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services) a plus.
