About this role
The Power BI & Tableau Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards, semantic models, and reporting solutions that empower stakeholders across GIP and BlackRock to make data-driven decisions. This role focuses on building scalable, user-friendly reports with strong data storytelling and performance optimization across both Power BI and Tableau. The developer will also collaborate with AI Integration Engineers to embed generative AI and Copilot features into reporting experiences, enhancing analytics with intelligent automation.
ResponsibilitiesDashboard & Reporting Development- Design and develop interactive dashboards, paginated reports, and visualizations in Power BI.
- Build and maintain semantic models, datasets, and custom metrics tailored to investment and operational reporting needs.
- Apply guidelines for DAX build and tuning to optimize performance and query efficiency.
- Implement strong data storytelling principles, ensuring reports are intuitive, engaging, and actionable.
- Partner with Business Analysts to gather requirements and translate them into technical reporting solutions.
- Work with Snowflake Developers to connect Power BI to curated data sources and models.
- Collaborate with AI Integration Engineers to embed Copilot or generative AI features into Power BI experiences.
- Coordinate with Power Apps developers to integrate reporting into business-facing applications.
- Ensure reports align with BlackRock’s governance, security, and data quality standards.
- Monitor and tune Power BI performance, including dataset refreshes, gateway connections, and capacity usage.
- Document dashboards, models, and metrics for transparency and reusability.
- Know the latest on Power BI, AI integrations, and visualization methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Finance, or related field, with equivalent experience considered; Master’s preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience developing dashboards and models in Power BI.
- Demonstrable ability to build semantic models, DAX calculations, and advanced measures.
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses as data sources.
- Exposure to analytics powered by artificial intelligence or Microsoft Copilot features (preferred).
- Background in financial services, private equity, or alternatives is a plus.
- Expert knowledge of Power BI (desktop, service, and Power BI Report Builder).
- Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query for modeling and transformation.
- Ability to design compelling data stories with clear, business-oriented visualizations.
- Solid SQL skills and experience connecting BI tools to enterprise data warehouses.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM integration in reporting workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for engaging business and technical teams.
