Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer for John Deere in Ames, IA, you will:
- Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems;
- Evaluate and implement solutions to optimize cost, quality, and performance of software applications;
- Analyze assignment and determine software specifications that must be filled to achieve objectives;
- Execute necessary documentation;
- Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs;
- Follow industry-standard agile software development methodology for development and documentation;
- Mentor junior software engineers on the team;
- Develop software solutions for John Deere's Cloud Platforms;
- Contribute to various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle: planning, analysis, estimation, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance;
- Develop reusable patterns to enhance team velocity and promote best practices;
- Refine Coding standards, workflows, and tool standards;
- Provide inputs into the product development strategy and roadmap;
- Develop comprehensive software designs, contribute to the system architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable Software;
- Resolve technical challenges in modernizing, optimizing software applications and their hosting environments;
- Considered a subject matter expert within the team on tools and technology in use;
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to other team members.
What Skills You Need
- 5 years of experience in software development including Full-stack web Application development (Backend and Frontend web application development), and end-to-end solution implementation
- 4 years of experience in leveraging DevSecOps such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, secure coding principles and practices to develop secure, scalable, and effective applications
- 2 years of experience in working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure platform technologies, and infrastructure-as-code to provision highly scalable and optimized computing environments
- 3 years of experience with Application containerization, container orchestration, automation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- 3 years of experience in software development experience to design and implement scalable and high-performance systems
- 3 years of experience with Agile development processes including Test Driven Development and Test Automation
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field plus 5 years related experience.
