Your Responsibilities
As a Factory Automation Engineer - Industrial Control Systems and Automation for John Deere in Ankeny, IA, you will:
- Provide factory support for control systems, automation, and smart connected factory projects, as well as new product programs for John Deere
- Develop and deploy Deere's MES system (JDAAT), and software tools (such as SmartTest and GFPTx) for current and new products
- Plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering work, and develop applications to automate processes using ladder logic, Python, and tools like Ignition, Studio 5000, and TIA Portal
- Operate within the Deere's EPDP and EOFP frameworks
- Support and troubleshoot current operations
- Analyze data and implement solutions
- Identify cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvements
- Use electronic tools for engineering functions, support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System
- Lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology
- Up to 20% domestic travel required.
What Skills You Need
- 3 years of experience in develop PLC, Python, and Structured Query Language (SQL) programming for manufacturing automation purposes
- 2 years of experience in using MES software, including SAP-MES, for mistake proofing of manufacturing processes, and shop floor device connectivity
- 2 years of experience in develop and maintain HMI applications including Ignition SCADA Software (Inductive Automation) and FactoryTalk View Studio (Allen Bradley)
- 2 years of experience in develop Bill of Materials for electrical projects involving PLC control panels and gather quotes from suppliers
- 3 years of experience in develop product testing solutions utilizing LabVIEW software and National Instruments hardware using CAN protocol
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field plus 3 years related experience.
