What you'll do...
Join our Content Relevancy team at Walmart as a Principal Software Engineer where you'll leverage your technological, analytical, and problem-solving skills to make a substantial impact within Walmart and advance your career. Our team values curiosity, excellence, and teamwork; and offers vast opportunities for professional growth. You'll architect and develop a wide range of impactful and groundbreaking search solutions that enhance the associate and customer experience and bring innovative ideas to the table and inspire your teammates to do the same. You'll also identify areas for improvement, design solutions, and contribute to process enhancements within our search products.

Create detailed architecture plans and lead the development of current and new search products using Elastic Search, OpenAI, Java, JavaScript, and related technologies.

Lead and solution for large-scale projects, working with cross-functional teams to translate project requirements into technical solutions.

Help to create technical roadmaps for the team by identifying project timelines, critical system updates, and other technical needs within the team.

Collaborate with and lead a small group of engineers, including offshore associates, on engineering projects. Provide guidance and review solutions.

Analyze business requirements and work in an agile development environment with rapid turnaround times.

Collaborate with various teams to achieve results and promote positive team dynamics.
About the Team:
Our team is focused on developing an adaptable and robust enterprise search service within Walmart that allows associates and other end-users to quickly and easily find the information they need. We currently support a wide range of searches from the search engine used within the world’s largest intranet, to an AI driven conversational search and more. From store associates to CEOs to public end-users, our search products benefit and impact all aspects the Walmart ecosystem, driving efficiency across Walmart globally.
What you'll bring:

Experience in leading software development in an agile environment.

Strong teamwork skills and a curiosity / learning mindset.

High proficiency in Java and strong algorithmic coding skills.

Knowledge of Elastic Search and OpenAI Prompt Engineering.

Experience writing Junit and other automated testing scripts for full code coverage.

Proficiency with UI technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript, React, and Bootstrap.

Experience with test-driven development.

Familiarity with databases like DB2, MS SQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.

Familiarity with Cloud platforms (Azure), Git, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.

Familiarity with scripting skills in Shell or Bash and knowledge on .Net and Unix.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
