Akamai's Infrastructure Services team is seeking a Unix System Administrator II. The role involves providing operational support for Data Protection and Network Storage Infrastructure. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering IT support services efficiently.
As a Systems Administrator II UNIX, you will be responsible for:
- Administering and supporting extensive Unix and Linux production environments while performing advanced troubleshooting of system, application, networking, and infrastructure issues.
- Managing DNS infrastructure through configuration, troubleshooting, validation, and support while utilizing Ansible automation to enhance efficiency and minimize manual tasks.
- Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting monitoring platforms like Prometheus and Grafana while performing system patching, upgrades, tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Supporting incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management while creating and maintaining documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles for operations.
- Collaborating with diverse technical teams to enhance infrastructure, identifying automation opportunities, and implementing solutions for improved reliability and scalability.
- Utilizing AI-driven tools to streamline troubleshooting, automate tasks, improve documentation, enhance decisions, and support critical production incidents.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold expertise 7 years in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering, with extensive practical experience managing Unix/Linux enterprise environments effectively.
- Demonstrate expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems, system administration, troubleshooting practices, and managing enterprise DNS infrastructure effectively.
- Demonstrate expertise using Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management, while implementing and supporting monitoring solutions with Prometheus and Grafana.
- Demonstrate expertise in networking fundamentals, covering TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, routing concepts, and firewalls comprehensively.
- Possess advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and high-availability networking.
- Perform system performance analysis, tuning, patching, and capacity management while diagnosing and resolving complex production issues independently with analytical expertise.
- Demonstrate exceptional ability in written and spoken communication.
