The Impact of a Sr. Software Engineer at Coupa:
At a technical level your development team will offer application and infrastructure support for customer environments. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate across software products with engineers all over the company and globe to plan and deploy product releases.
What You’ll Do
- As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will help scale our Coupa platforms as we expand and find the right balance between the power of a consolidated codebase and the flexibility of microservices.
- You will collaborate with Product and Development teams to build new features and find creative and elegant solutions to complex problems.
- As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will offer advice and review of others designs and implementations and mentor others, breaking down information systematically.
Design and develop scalable, reliable, and secure platform services and frameworks
Drive architecture decisions and contribute to long-term platform strategy
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand requirements and provide platform solutions
Improve system performance, observability, and operational efficiency
Ensure best practices in code quality
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
Proactively identify and resolve technical risks, bottlenecks, and production issues
What You Will Bring to Coupa
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5-8 years of experience in software development, preferably in platform or backend engineering
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or similar)
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Solid understanding of APIs, system design, and scalable architecture patterns
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Experience with observability tools (monitoring, logging) and familiarity with DevOps practices
- Hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and key-value stores like Redis.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and database performance tuning
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
