Hi there!AI automation should feel magical—not fragile. Most tools today either require prompt engineering expertise or make black-box decisions that users can’t trust. At Zapier, we’re doing things differently by building AI that’s approachable, flexible, and transparent, giving millions of people confidence to automate work in ways they never could before.
As a Senior Product Designer for the AI Orchestration zone, you’ll lead design for some of our most powerful AI experiences, including:
AI by Zapier — easily add LLMs to automations
Human-in-the-Loop — bring humans into the review and approval process
Knowledge by Zapier — manage the data and context powering your AI
You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and design leaders to define how users build trust with AI, and how AI can safely act on their behalf. You’ll invent new patterns where none exist, helping set the standard for AI UX in automation.

You’re an experienced designer. You have 6+ years of product design experience with significant work on AI-powered products (not just AI tools in your process).
You have AI-powered product design experience. Your portfolio demonstrates designing for AI uncertainty, creating scalable systems, and pushing beyond standard patterns when they don't serve users.
You have a forward-looking perspective on AI UX. You have strong opinions about where AI UX is heading, backed by your own experimentation and research.
You’re comfortable with LLMs and technical tradeoffs. You understand LLM constraints (context windows, token costs, latency, prompt engineering) and design within those realities while pushing boundaries.
You’re excited about how AI is changing design roles. You're ready to work in a more boundaryless way with PM and engineering and are energized by working where best practices are still being defined.
You have strong prioritization and communication skills. You make clear trade-offs and keep stakeholders informed about where you're focused and why.
Own end-to-end design across two teams covering Human-in-the-Loop, AI by Zapier, Chat, and Knowledge Sources
Partner with a Lead Designer on strategic initiatives while driving day-to-day execution
Conduct research that uncovers latent needs and mental models around AI, not just what users say they want
Design new interaction paradigms, bring bold ideas, and experiment aggressively
Work with PMs and engineering to translate technical opportunities into user value
Balance priorities across two teams with different product contexts
At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.
Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process.
After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!
