Leads avionics system and software engineering for aircraft programs, including requirements analysis, systems architecture, integration and functional testing, certification, troubleshooting, and design reviews. Develops and verifies flight-deck requirements, supports SRR, PDR, and CDR milestones, coordinates distributed engineering teams, and manages program priorities and roadblocks. Requires extensive avionics platform experience, systems safety analysis knowledge, customer requirements experience, and familiarity with ARP4754A processes and engineering tools.
Job Expectations:
- Detailed understanding and working experience on Avionics System\software and Certification.
- Experience in the development of any or multiple Aircraft functions like Displays, Flight Management, Communication & Navigation, Flight Controls, Cybersecurity is required.
- Analysis of customer and operational requirements to define systems architecture, capture requirements, perform integration/systems/functional testing, and conduct design reviews.
- Ability to develop, validate and verify system level requirements for flight deck avionic programs.
- Trouble shoot current systems interfaces and performance problems.
- Lead or assist in coordinating engineering review activities associated with SRR, PDR and CDR milestones.
- Able to work with a diverse group of team members who could be geographically distributed.
- Interfaces with stakeholders outside of their CoE, including Equipment Engineering Teams, Customer Engineering Leads (CEL), SPE, LSE, ASL, other engineering.
- Good Understanding of Avionics architecture (HW and Systems).
- Experience with Agile development processes.
- Knowledge of AGILE tools. IBM Rational DOORS NG Requirements Management tool, Atlassian JIRA Change management tool.
- Anticipate problems, recognize, and eliminate barriers.
- Keep management apprised of program status and roadblocks.
- Manage efforts based on priorities, availability, and commitments.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Avionics, Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering
- 10+ years of combined system/software/hardware product engineering development experience as a technical solution provider and functional discipline leader.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with functional decomposition desired.
- Experience working with customers on Systems requirements required
- ARP4754 process knowledge strongly preferred.
- Knowledge about EPIC/APEX platform and applications desired.
- 5+ years of avionics platform system engineering experience highly desirable.
- Experience on large, complicated programs preferred.
- 3+ years Systems Safety Analysis experience preferred.
- Academic background in Systems Engineering preferred.
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification desired
- Avionics background, Knowledge, and experience on ARP4754A, Aero Process is required
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of team both locally and globally.
