Software Engineer — Ransomware Defense (Python, C/C++, Cloud Platforms)
Role Overview
Nasuni is building advanced ransomware detection and mitigation capabilities to protect enterprise-scale unstructured data.
This role focuses on designing, developing, and improving components of our ransomware detection systems—working on data processing, detection logic, and response workflows within our cloud platform.
This role is ideal for engineers who:

- Want to build reliable, scalable systems in a collaborative environment
This role is not for candidates seeking organization-wide architectural ownership or primarily strategic responsibilities.
Level & Scope Definition
- Owns development and delivery of well-defined components or services within ransomware detection systems
- Contributes to design decisions within the team, with guidance from senior engineers
- Focuses on implementation, reliability, and performance optimization
- Works with cross-functional teams (Security, Platform, Product) to deliver features
- Participates in debugging, testing, and improving production systems
- Operates with moderate autonomy on scoped problems
Responsibilities
- Design and develop components of ransomware detection and mitigation systems
- Implement detection logic using behavioral signals, telemetry, and data processing pipelines
- Build and maintain backend services using Python and/or C/C++ on Linux systems
- Contribute to data collection, processing, and analysis workflows
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable production code
- Debug and resolve issues in distributed systems and production environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable features
- Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability through optimization
- Contribute to automated testing, including simulation of attack scenarios
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, anomaly analysis tools) to improve productivity, while validating outputs for correctness and reliability
Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience in product-based environments
- Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ for backend or systems development
- Experience building and maintaining Linux-based services
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals
- Experience with APIs, backend services, or distributed systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or similar)
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot production issues
- Experience using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., code assistants) with ability to validate outputs
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to security concepts (e.g., threat detection, system resilience)
- Experience working with data pipelines, telemetry, or analytics systems
- Familiarity with backend frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask)
- Experience with performance tuning and monitoring
- Basic understanding of distributed systems design
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience working on security or detection-related systems
- Exposure to ransomware, malware, or anomaly detection use cases
- Familiarity with storage systems, file systems, or networking fundamentals
- Contributions to open-source or internal platform tooling
Experience Guidelines
- 3–5 years total software engineering experience
- 2+ years building backend or systems-level services
- 1+ year working with cloud environments or distributed systems
