As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Cards Technology team, you are an integral member of an agile engineering team responsible for designing, enhancing, and delivering secure, stable, and scalable solutions for data collection, storage, access, and analytics. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills to promote meaningful business outcomes, addressing a wide range of challenges across multiple data pipelines, data architectures, and downstream data consumers.
Job responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Designs and delivers trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics data platform solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way
Defines database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies, including S3
- Experience with SQL-based technologies (e.g., MySQL/ Oracle DB)
- Experience in Java and Python programming language
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Experience in data de/serialization (at least two of Parquet, Iceberg, Avro, JSON-LD) and solid understanding of AWS security controls including IAM, service roles, encryption, KMS, Secrets Manager, and Lake Formation governance
Hands-on delivery experience building data lakes and pipelines on AWS using Lake Formation, S3, Glue Catalog, Athena, and Glue ETL/EMR; streaming with Kinesis or MSK; orchestration with Airflow or serverless workflows (Lambda + Step Functions + EventBridge)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Snowflake knowledge or experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Worked with building Data lake, built Data platforms, built Data frameworks, Built/Design of Data as a Service AP
