Why this role

We’re building Risk Intelligence products that help customers make trusted decisions in real time. You will take products from 0→1 and 1→n, keeping the customer and product at the center, and own the outcome from discovery and MVP through scaled, reliable operations. You’ll lead by doing with your team, choose the best technology for the job, and create a culture of learning, psychological safety, and excellence.

Note: Our current ecosystem includes Azure and .NET among other technologies, but we evaluate and adopt the most appropriate stack for each product/customer outcome and evolve it over time.

What you’ll do
  • **Build complete products, 0→1:** Partner with Product/Design to validate problems, shape hypotheses, define MVP scope, and ship v1 quickly. Instrument time‑to‑first‑value (TTFV), learn from usage, and iterate to product‑market fit.
  • **Scale 1→n with reliability:** Grow v1 into resilient, observable, cost‑aware services with clear SLOs, strong incident readiness, and blameless post‑incident learning loops.
  • **Lead by doing (player/coach):** Join critical design sessions, pair when it helps, and review high‑risk PRs while developing engineers via clarity, feedback, and opportunities.
  • **Own live‑site:** Establish pragmatic on‑call practices and a healthy live‑site culture; drive continuous improvement from real production signals.
  • **Engineer for outcomes, not tools:** Guide architecture and platform choices (APIs, domain boundaries, data modeling, eventing, UI) with explicit tradeoffs; evaluate build‑vs‑buy and manage cost/performance/security with measurable impact.
  • **Drive innovation:** Spark lightweight tech spikes and design/experiment workshops; create space for well‑scoped bets that de‑risk the roadmap and unlock step‑changes for customers (learning delivered over slideware).
  • **Build an inclusive, high‑performing team:** Hire well, run effective 1:1s, create psychological safety, and establish growth paths for engineers and tech leads.
  • **Collaborate across the business:** Partner with Risk Intelligence stakeholders to integrate services and meet regulatory/security expectations while simplifying the customer experience.
What you’ll bring
  • 8–10+ years in software engineering with 2–4+ years leading teams; shipped and operated customer‑facing services at meaningful scale.
  • Demonstrated 0→1 track record: turning ambiguous problems into MVPs and iterating into durable, scalable solutions with customers.
  • Ability to learn/adapt quickly and pick the right tool—language, framework, or cloud service—based on outcome, operability, and time‑to‑value; willingness to retire tech that no longer serves us.
  • Excellence in communication and stakeholder partnership; comfortable making—and explaining—tradeoffs under time and risk.
How we’ll measure success
  • Product outcomes: time‑to‑first‑value (TTFV), adoption/retention of new capabilities, and customer feedback informing roadmap.
  • Software delivery (DORA): improved change lead time and deployment frequency; better failed deployment recovery time and lower change failure rate.
  • Reliability & quality: SLO attainment, incident and defect trends, and strong observability signals across services.
  • Team health: hiring quality/velocity, growth & retention, engagement, and a strong TL/EM bench.
Technologies you and the team may use
  • Backends & APIs: .NET/Java/Go/Node (expert in at least 1), REST/gRPC, event‑driven patterns
  • Frontends: Web (React/Next), design systems, accessibility
  • Cloud & Platform: Azure/AWS, container orchestration, CI/CD, IaC, secrets & identity
  • Data & Observability: relational/NoSQL, streaming, metrics/logs/traces, cost telemetry
  • We select and evolve the stack based on customer value, operability, and time‑to‑impact—not allegiance to any single technology.
Ways of working

Hybrid collaboration with intentional in‑person time for planning/design sprints and post‑incident reviews, while supporting deep work wherever you’re most effective.

Manager Operating Principles (what great looks like)
  • Customer & product at the center: We measure success by user outcomes—not just shipped code.
  • Extreme ownership: We build it, ship it, run it—end‑to‑end.
  • Lead by doing: We roll up our sleeves on the moments that matter and raise the bar every day.
  • Outcome‑driven technology: We pick tools for outcomes and change course when the data says so.
  • Learn fast, improve continuously: We use DORA, SLOs, and customer feedback to decide what to fix, build, and stop.
