Coupang is building a unified, global payroll platform designed to manage the complete lifecycle of employee compensation across all employment types—full-time, part-time, contract, and gig workers. This platform will ensure seamless integration and automation of payroll processing, incentive distribution, taxation compliance, and other core responsibilities across multiple geographies.
By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and scalable architecture, the platform will deliver fast, accurate, and compliant payroll services tailored to local regulations and employee needs. It will also enable real-time insights and reporting, empowering HR and finance teams to make data-driven decisions.
Through continuous innovation and a user-centric approach, the platform aims to simplify complex payroll operations, reduce administrative overhead, and enhance the employee experience globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop the One-Payroll system to ensure scalable, stable, and secure global operations.
- Design and implement front-end and back-end web services using the Java platform to support both employee-facing and administrative functions.
- Identify and manage cross-domain dependencies, ensuring seamless integration with internal systems and external services.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance system performance, streamline development workflows, and support long-term maintainability.
- Develop optimized algorithms to automate rule-based processes, such as payroll calculations and incentive distributions, ensuring accuracy and cost-efficiency.
Essential Qualifications:
- 15+ years of professional experience in Java development, with deep expertise in object-oriented design and enterprise-grade application development.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement large-scale, distributed system architectures that are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Proficient in Java and the Spring framework, with hands-on experience using Git for version control in collaborative development environments.
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Aurora, MySQL) and key-value datastores (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis).
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal or Cadence to automate and manage complex business processes.
- Familiarity with business rule engines (e.g., Drools, Camunda, or similar) to support dynamic and configurable business logic.
- Proficiency in Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks such as JPA or Hibernate, with solid experience in domain-driven design and modeling.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Proven experience leading technology initiatives within the Payroll, Finance, or Accounting domains, with a deep understanding of domain-specific requirements and compliance standards.
- Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance and Accounting teams, to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Hands-on experience in developing and operating services in AWS, leveraging cloud-native tools and best practices.
- Strong focus on code quality, with a track record of implementing clean, maintainable, and scalable codebases.
- Experience in automating build, test, and deployment pipelines, ensuring continuous integration and delivery.
- Familiarity with bulk data processing using technologies like Hive, Spark, Flink, etc., especially in high-throughput environments.
- Practical experience working in Agile development environments, with a collaborative and iterative approach to product delivery.
