Role Overview
The Senior Solution Architect for Event Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining the future-state architecture, driving innovation, and ensuring the operational excellence of the fault management platform. This role transcends daily support to focus on architectural governance, platform evolution, and the integration of AI/ML for predictive operations. You will act as the ultimate technical authority, shaping strategy, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring the platform delivers transformative business value in a large-scale, multi-vendor telecom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end architectural roadmap for the Event Management, Correlation, and AIOps platform, aligning it with business objectives and IT strategy.
- Lead the evaluation, design, and adoption of next-generation monitoring technologies (e.g., cloud-native observability, open-source stacks) and orchestrate their integration with or migration from legacy systems.
- Establish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices for probe development, event flow, data models, and automation
- Govern the overall platform lifecycle, including capacity planning, scalability assessments, technology refresh cycles, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Act as the highest level of technical escalation (L4) for critical, cross-domain incidents and complex performance issues.
- Lead technical discussions with global vendors to influence product roadmaps and resolve deep technical issues.
- Define and monitor key platform health and business value metrics (KPIs/SLIs/SLOs). Translate operational data into insights for continuous improvement.
- Optimize the total cost of ownership of the Fault Management Tool through rationalization, license optimization, and efficient resource utilization.
- Ensure all solutions meet stringent requirements for security, compliance, resilience, and auditability.
- Mentor and coach Stage 6 Specialists and other senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level,7+years hands-on experience with IBM Netcool/OMNIbus, Tivoli Monitoring, or similar large-scale event management platforms, with a deep understanding of their internal mechanics and limitations.
- Proven track record as a Solution Architect or Principal Engineer designing and delivering mission-critical fault management systems for Tier-1 Telecom operators.
- Expertise in integrating event management with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, Orchestration platforms, and big data analytics stacks.
- Strong background in software engineering principles, with proficiency in Core Java and/or Python for designing and reviewing complex integrations and automation.
- Mastery of automation and DevOps practices: Infrastructure as Code (Ansible), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitOps), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- In-depth knowledge of telecom network technologies (4G/5G, OSS/BSS, FCAPS) and multi-vendor EMS/NMS landscapes.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
- Leadership experience in guiding technical teams, making architecture decisions, and driving multi-stakeholder projects to completion.
