Linux System Engineer

Role Overview: We are currently looking for an experienced, self-motivated Sr. Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be involved in progressively improving our existing Linux infrastructure, managing the day-to-day operations, and making recommendations on new technology that allows the business to host its world-class SaaS platform.
Key Responsibilities:
The job involves the following responsibilities:
- Participate in DevOps initiatives around the improvement of our build + deploy processes
- Assist with the purchase, provisioning, and deploying of datacenter hardware and server/storage infrastructure
- Automate the infrastructure using configuration management, Python, Shell scripting, and other technology tools
- Design and create Kubernetes deployments for new services
- Maintain our infrastructure by facilitating new technology builds and upgrades
- Analyze our current infrastructure and identify areas of improvement for system performance, TCO, and stability
- Act as a Tier 2 SME and work directly with our clients on troubleshooting issues related to our platform (e.g., connectivity, performance troubleshooting)

What You’ll Need:
- Hands on experience with RHEL or Debian-based distros
- Experience with managing Linux systems at scale using configuration management (e.g. Saltstack, Ansible, Puppet. Salt preferred!)
- Strong background in using git and GitOps workflows during day-to-day responsibilities
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools – Nagios XI, CheckMK, or Prometheus
- Experience with open-source log ingestion and analysis tools – GrayLog, Elastic, or OpenSearch
- Basic/ working knowledge of MySQL DB (or other equivalent transactional / RDBMS systems)
- Must have experience with hardware virtualization technologies – VMWare, Proxmox, OpenStack, etc.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container orchestration technology
- Strong understanding of OSI network layers and technologies (specifically host-based). Ability to troubleshoot basic enterprise network connectivity issues at the host level
- Ability to troubleshoot common Linux system performance issues
- Experience working with bare metal servers. Some exposure to public cloud environments a plus
- Solid experience with scripting in Bash/Shell and Python
- Good documentation and communication skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
- Open-source software certifications are a plus: CKA, RHCA, RHCE, LFCS, or similar
- Be able to work on-site in Bangalore on a hybrid basis (currently 4 days a week).
