This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office, so you should live within commuting distance. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. This role is for a Senior Software Engineer in India who will play a key role on the Partner web portal team within GoDaddy’s Commerce business unit.
Our partners run their entire business on our platform and need the Partner web portal to work flawlessly for managing their operations. We strive to provide them with powerful experiences that help minimize their operational expenses.
In the Commerce business unit, we have seen massive increase in volume over the years (around 20x over the past 3 years) and are expecting to continue the trajectory. With that, we expect the complexity of system and use-cases to grow. All this brings exciting system and product design challenges.

What you'll get to do...
As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will:
- Interact with various stakeholders to define robust architectural solutions, with special attention to observability, availability, scalability and API design.
- Propose and drive engineering initiatives to reduce technical debt and ensure solid technical foundation
- Guide and mentor junior engineers on design and implementation, provide meaningful feedback on PR code reviews; be a strong advocate for engineering best practices
- Actively write clean, maintainable and efficient code on important projects.
- Help drive releases, on-call rotation, production incident response and post-mortems
- Help hire and mentor engineers
Your experience should include...
- 5+ years of experience building scalable web platforms using JavaScript, Node.js, and React, with strong emphasis on backend architecture, platform reliability, and developer-friendly API design.
- Expertise in designing and implementing external-facing REST APIs that are standardized, intuitive, easy to use, consistent, and secure.
- Solid understanding of core JavaScript concepts including scope/closures, the event loop, asynchronous callbacks, and promises.
- Strong experience with SQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering, scoping, and planning to release, production monitoring, and long-term maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to learn, document, and share knowledge effectively across teams.
- Expertise in large-scale cloud-based distributed systems.
- Experience with messaging systems, asynchronous processing, event-driven architecture, monoliths, SOA, and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including deploying and operating cloud-native services in scalable production environments.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and observability instrumentation, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Experience building backend services and workflow integrations for LLM-powered features, including knowledge retrieval, summarization, and operational automation use cases.
- Familiarity with practical agentic AI patterns such as tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, and structured output validation, with focus on reliability, observability, and safe production behavior.
- Strong understanding of Scrum processes and ceremonies.
You might also have...
- Experience building modern single-page applications using React and related frontend patterns.
- Experience building intuitive, high-quality partner-facing web experiences with strong focus on usability and performance.
- Prior experience in payments and risk domains.
- Hands-on experience with LLM application tooling and frameworks, including prompt orchestration, tool integration, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation workflows.
