About the roleThe Senior Electronics Engineer is part of the NPD Hardware Electronics. This role involves specification, design, and test of the electronic circuits for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s New categories.
The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical, and flexible person with excellent communication skills, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will be part of team of Electronics Engineers in development projects.
Design, develop and implement specific solution for home appliances products using a range of electronic technologies, for both self-development and JDM module
Ensure design solutions meet product specifications and functional requirements (performance, reliability, DFM, cost and serviceability, compliance with international regulatory standards e.g. IEC, UL and EMC)
Prototypes and implements new product design including analogue and digital hardware and embedded software
Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layout, Tolerance analysis, design notes, FMEA, Failure analysis report and technical review documents
Work with motor, mechanical, approval and test engineers to ensure product and system requirements are fully met
Assist manufacturing engineers to achieve design for manufacturer concept and optimal for high volume production environment
Identify and warn of technical risks throughout the product life cycle. Investigate these risks through to resolution with testing and analysis as required
Develop test methodology and conduct/drive electronics design verification & product validation test
Drive JDM/suppliers and contract manufacturer’s production process to meet Dyson requirements
Support reliability and quality engineers in field return analysis, quality, and reliability improvement
Bachelor’s degree in (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication) or equivalent
Minimum 3- 5 years’ experience, preferably personnel specializing in design and development of Electronics Hardware circuits and system
Design knowledge and experience in major aspect of Electronics: Power Electronics, Motor control, Analogue, Digital and sensing technology
Have understanding on Embedded microcontroller-based platforms, such as 8-bit/16-bit/ARM Cortex microcontrollers
Working Knowledge of Schematic capture, PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics
Experience with standard electronics laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc
Experience using simulation tools to support design calculations, tolerance analysis and documentation
Experience of electronics development through multiple product development cycles.
Sound Knowledge in Home Appliance Safety Requirement and regulations will be an advantage
Experience in EMC troubleshooting is essential
Experience is Design QA, DFM, DFX, DFMEA is essential
Highly self-motivated person and good team player
Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing for all levels of stakeholders
JDM management experience, especially for home appliance is preferable
