Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cable Engineer – to join our bridge engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, installation, and inspection of cable-supported bridge structures such as cable-stayed and suspension bridges. The role includes coordination with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure structural integrity and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of cable-supported bridge structures using relevant international standards (e.g., AASHTO, Eurocodes, IRC).
- Develop detailed calculations and design drawings for cables, anchorages, pylons, and bridge decks.
- Provide technical expertise in the selection, specification, and procurement of stay cables and tensioning systems.
- Conduct structural analysis using advanced software tools such as MIDAS Civil, LARSA 4D, SOFiSTiK, SAP2000, or similar.
- Oversee cable installation, tensioning, and health monitoring systems on-site during construction.
- Perform inspections and assessments of existing cable-stayed or suspension bridges, including maintenance planning and rehabilitation design.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, hydraulic, and construction teams to ensure design compatibility and constructability.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the bridge design team.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and client presentations.
- Ensure all designs comply with safety, sustainability, and quality standards
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred with focus in Bridge or Structural Engineering).
- 15 years of experience in bridge design, with at least 5 years focused on cable-supported bridge structures.
- Proficient in structural analysis tools and CAD/BIM software.
- Familiarity with international bridge design codes and standards.
- Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
Specific Skills Required
Chartered Engineer or working toward professional registration (e.g., PE, CEng).
Experience in large-scale infrastructure or international bridge projects.
Understanding of fatigue, dynamic, and seismic performance of cable systems.
Experience
- Related experience in operations of at least 15years within an international project-based, matrix company of similar structure and complexity to AECOM, with demonstrated experience in operational leadership, organizational change and organization building.
