About Pratham International

Pratham International is a US 501(c)(3) established to support learning innovations for children and youth in contexts across the globe. We enable the adaptation and spread of proven and scalable education solutions pioneered in India by Pratham Education Foundation to contexts across the global south through programming and technical assistance tailored to local realities.  Today, Pratham innovations reach millions of children annually through partnerships across ~30 countries.

Through the Pratham Shah PraDigi Innovation Centre (PraDigi), Pratham International also seeks to create technology innovations for low-resource communities, and support models aimed at learning for school, work, and life for children and youth. We work on several cutting-edge projects in the domain of Generative AI, Automatic Speech Recognition, and Natural Language Processing.

The team’s innovative technology products include the PadhAI: Reading Assessment App, which uses advanced speech recognition to evaluate children’s reading fluency in 8 Indian languages and 6 global languages; Anytime Testing Model (ATM), an AI-enabled question generation and grading system that allows learners to be assessed on any topic, anytime; and a suite of AI-powered chatbots designed for diverse learning contexts: from early childhood care, to youth employment readiness, and OCR-based analysis tools that digitize and assess student work at scale.

At Pratham International, we build for the long term. Whether it’s ensuring products are truly accessible across rural India and the global south through languages, building datasets to ensure context and accuracy for products, or gathering feedback from the field.  Backed by partners like Google.org, Anthropic, and the Gates Foundation, we are committed to building digital public goods that ensure every child is in school and learning well.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Product Manager to join our Digital team to sit at the intersection of our program, AI, and analytics teams — translating educational goals and field realities into concrete product decisions, and technical capabilities into tools that work for children and communities on the ground.

The Product Manager will own the product strategy and lifecycle for Pratham’s digital learning tools. This role is ideal for someone with deep product instincts who also cares deeply about education, social innovation, and the transformative potential of AI for underserved learners. It is a role for someone who does their best work in constraint — who can hold a product vision steady across multiple stakeholders, move from ambiguity to clarity, and measure whether what we built actually worked.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the problem definition process: synthesise field signals, program goals, and Pratham’s pedagogical principles into clear product opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap, making principled prioritization decisions that balance educational impact, technical feasibility, and organizational timelines.
  • Hold the product vision steady in a multi-funder environment, knowing when to absorb external input and when to protect core product integrity.
  • Write problem statements and solution briefs for AI, analytics, and software teams— serving as the connective tissue across functions that do not always speak the same language.
  • Collaborate with Pratham’s field implementation, technology, educational program teams and funder stakeholders, translating requirements into decisions the team can act on.
  • Champion responsible AI practices — including data privacy and age-appropriate design — in all products built for children.
  • Work closely with analytics, measurement and development teams from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Define and track products via quantitative methods, translating qualitative work into numbers to better assess feedback
  • Technical skillset: comfortable picking up new tools quickly and able to use existing technology to independently build prototypes, dashboards, and feedback instruments — including designing and running A/B testing experiments — without waiting for engineering support.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5–8 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a product management role.
  • Demonstrated experience taking technical products from conception to launch, including the product vision, go-to- market strategy, and design discussions.
  • Ability to use current tools to prototype, build dashboards, and design feedback experiments independently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Openness to work across 2-3 time zones in a day - with teams spread across India, the US, Africa and Latin America.
  • Domestic and international travel to project implementation sites — including rural India, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America — is a requirement of this role. Candidates should expect to travel periodically throughout the year.

Required Technical Skills

  • AI-assisted product workflows: Working fluency with LLM-based tools for research synthesis, PRD drafting, and stakeholder communication — e.g. Claude, Perplexity for cited market research, and NotebookLM for synthesising customer interview transcripts.
  • No-code/low-code prototyping ("vibe coding"): Comfort building working prototypes directly from plain-language input using tools like v0 by Vercel for UI prototyping or similar AI coding environments, to validate ideas without waiting on engineering capacity.
  • Product analytics & experimentation: Ability to instrument events and independently run analysis using tools such as PostHog (product analytics with session replays, feature flags, and experiments) or Amplitude, including designing A/B tests.
  • Roadmap & execution tracking: Working knowledge of AI-augmented project tools such as Linear for AI-powered project management with auto-triage, or equivalent (Jira, Productboard).
  • ASR/NLP-adjacent literacy: Enough grounding in speech recognition and LLM evaluation concepts to write precise problem briefs for Pratham International's AI team .
  • Data querying: Basic SQL to pull product/usage data independently.
  • Responsible AI & child data privacy: Familiarity with age-appropriate design and data-minimization principles for AI products used by children.

Why join us?

  • Impact at Scale: Your work will directly support the learning journeys of millions of children. With programs active in 31 countries, you will help build Digital Public Goods that bridge the gap for the millions of children across the Global South who still struggle with foundational literacy
  • Innovation at the intersection of Education and Technology: Lead the charge in redefining learning and learning processes through technology. You will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge learning tools and AI-driven initiatives, ensuring EdTech isn't just a buzzword, but a scalable solution for global equity.
  • A Culture of Growth and Evidence: At Pratham, we value rigorous testing and continuous learning. You will have the autonomy to experiment with the latest SOTA models, supported by a 5-year strategic roadmap and funding from partners like the Gates Foundation and Anthropic.
  • High-Calibre, Mission-Driven Team: You will work alongside a global team of experts from institutions like MIT, Harvard, and INSEAD. Our alumni have gone on to lead successful startups and international policy shifts, all while remaining dedicated to the goal of "Every Child in School and Learning Well."
  • Inclusive and Collaborative Environment: Join a diverse team that spans Asia, Africa, and Latin America. We value innovative thinking and local expertise, ensuring that the technology we build is deeply rooted in the realities of the communities we serve.

Employment Details

  • Expected Start Date: Immediate
  • Location: India
  • Remuneration: Based on candidate’s experience and skillset
