Sola Wood Flowers is hiring a Plant Manager to take the reins of our manufacturing facility in Kolkata as we continue to scale.
In this role, you'll own the day-to-day running of our light manufacturing operation and lead a team of 40+ people on the floor. You'll be the person making sure production hits its numbers, the team is set up to perform, and the facility is operating like a well-tuned machine.
A bit about us
Sola Wood Flowers is rewriting what artificial flowers can be. Our wooden blooms are eco-friendly, beautiful, and priced for everyday couples, which is how we've ended up in more than 6% of weddings across the United States each year. Our Kolkata plant is a critical part of how we deliver on that promise, and we're looking for someone to lead it.
Our culture and the kind of people who do well here
Culture fit is the single most important thing we screen for.
We have a real hunger to win. If a job needs doing and it moves us forward, no one's title puts them above it.
We get creative to stretch every resource, and we move fast.
We let the data drive our decisions. The only "debates" we have around here are about how to capture better data and how to read it more sharply.
We treat every challenge as a chance to learn something new.
If you're after a quiet, predictable corporate job, this isn't it.
But if you want to:
Help shape a fast-growing brand and scale it past $100mm.
Work alongside sharp, motivated, hardworking people who actually care about the outcome.
Operate in a place free of office politics.
Share in the upside through a clearly written compensation philosophy.
…you'll fit right in.
Key objectives
- Run the day-to-day of the plant, including all aspects of our light manufacturing.
- Hit or exceed the KPIs set with the leadership team.
- Take ownership of related functions like HR, administrative work, and other ancillary needs.
- Use data and lean methods to find and execute on process improvements.
What we're looking for
- Experience managing a workforce of roughly 30 to 50 people.
- Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing.
- Comfort with ERP systems and other relevant software.
- Able to be on-site every day at our Kolkata facility.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Bengali.
- A willingness to roll up your sleeves and jump into any part of the business. You're eager to learn.
- Open to providing references when asked. Our interview process is rigorous because we'd rather invest the time upfront than work through a mishire.
- Strong cultural alignment with the values described above.
Examples of what you'll actually be doing
- Running daily operations once production is humming, and making sure we meet or beat target output numbers.
- Leading kaizen events to sharpen our processes and lift output.
- Designing and rolling out a training program for the India team.
How our hiring process works and how we operate
- Once you're hired, we'll align with you on the specific KPIs you'll own and the targets you're aiming at, so there's no ambiguity about how you're tracking.
- The flow: a quick introductory conversation, followed by a longer working-style technical interview with the relevant team. From first interview to offer, we typically wrap in about 8 to 10 days. We respond promptly and keep candidates informed throughout.
- Internally, we run on EOS/Traction. If you've worked with Scaling Up or OKRs, you'll pick up Traction quickly. If it's new to you, we'd recommend a quick read-up before interviewing.
- For this role specifically, we'll walk you through the long-term vision for the business, the opportunities ahead, and exactly where you fit into it.
