WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a seasoned Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team and oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our data products. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, architecture, and management, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The Data Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of data engineers, developing and implementing data engineering strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.

The ideal candidate should have 

  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and managing large-scale data systems

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams

  • Strong technical skills in data engineering, including data warehousing, data lakes, data pipelines, and data architecture

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modelling, data governance, and data quality

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data engineering problems and develop creative solutions

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As an Engineering Manager, you'll be a key pillar of the data engineering team. In this role, you will

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure the team's success

  • Develop and implement data engineering strategies, architectures, and roadmaps that align with business objectives

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data systems, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science, product, and engineering, to drive business growth and inform data-driven decisions

  • Develop and maintain data engineering standards, best practices, and processes to ensure high-quality data and systems

  • Manage data engineering resources and timelines to ensure successful project delivery

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies, and apply this knowledge to improve data engineering practices and systems

  • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including business leaders and product managers

  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the data engineering team
