As a Risk Management Associate within Risk Management and Compliance, you will collaborate with various business units, Corporate Treasury, and other risk divisions to gather, comprehend, analyze, and infer potential liquidity risk implications within the firm’s operations, leveraging artificial intelligence where appropriate while maintaining sound risk management and governance standards. You will be responsible for continuously evaluating emerging risks to the firm’s liquidity by monitoring evolving short-term funding markets and presenting your findings to management.
Job responsibilities
- Provide independent risk challenge and oversight on Treasury and legal entity liquidity and interest rate risk management teams.
- Analyze balance sheet changes to assess liquidity and interest rate risk impacts and provide an independent viewpoint.
- Review legal entity liquidity and interest rate risks and work closely with local Treasury and liquidity/interest rate risk management teams to ensure risks are appropriately managed.
- Monitor legal entity balance sheets using limits and indicators designed to control and monitor regional balance sheets.
- Develop and present material for risk committees, as appropriate.
- Fulfill regulatory requests pertaining to liquidity and interest rate risk from a second line risk management perspective.
- Participate in second line review and challenge requirements, including change management, user testing, and data and controls review, and other matters that impact liquidity and interest rate risk for the United Kingdom entities.
- Provide legal entity liquidity and interest rate risk management coverage across United Kingdom-based legal entities, liaising closely with senior stakeholders locally and internationally to support best practice and efficiency across the United Kingdom and broader international legal entities.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Undergraduate degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the banking industry across Treasury, liquidity risk, market risk, and/or trading of fixed income products.
- Understanding of liquidity risk and related requirements.
- Understanding of balance sheet analysis for banks, including traditional banking and complex non-banking products.
- Understanding of governance and controls surrounding risk monitoring, including liquidity coverage ratio, net stable funding ratio, earnings at risk, economic value sensitivity, stress testing, and return measures.
- Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to think critically, work independently, and form an independent viewpoint.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance management information aggregation through scalable technology solutions.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in liquidity and/or interest rate risk management using quantitative, financial, and risk management techniques and systems.
- Experience with stress testing.
- Experience with stress scenario construction.
- Experience with Tableau, Visual Studio Code, Alteryx, and Python combined with strong artificial intelligence skills.
