Team Overview
The Lead Developer is responsible for driving end‑to‑end technical delivery across complex initiatives, providing hands‑on development expertise, and guiding a team of engineers toward high‑quality, scalable, and secure solutions. This role requires strong ownership, the ability to operate independently, and consistent collaboration with cross‑functional teams including QA, DevOps, Product and Architecture. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead design, development, and implementation of backend and/or full‑stack solutions using modern frameworks and cloud‑native practices.
- Provide hands‑on coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Translate high‑level requirements into scalable technical designs and sequence/architecture diagrams.
- Drive performance testing, ensuring API and service‑level SLAs are met before merges (aligned with expectations from recent release and merge retrospectives).
- Maintain high code quality standards, ensuring compliance with security, vulnerability remediation, and best practices.
Delivery & Ownership
- Own features and modules end‑to‑end—from estimation to delivery—ensuring timely outcomes without repeated follow‑ups.
- Actively drive stories to closure, maintain clear documentation, and proactively identify and resolve blockers.
- Ensure smooth code merges across initiative branches and mainline develop branches, handling merge conflicts and coordinating with team branch leads.
- Uphold functional testing responsibility when QA capacity is constrained; collaborate closely with QA on certification, coverage, and test case readiness.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction
- Partner with Product Owners, QA leads, and architects to refine requirements, manage dependencies, and ensure seamless cross‑team integration.
- Communicate progress, risks, and architectural changes clearly and proactively.
- Participate in collaboration calls, retrospectives, and branching/merge strategy discussions.
Team Guidance & SME Development
- Mentor junior and senior developers, providing guidance on frameworks, coding practices, and debugging.
- Support knowledge‑sharing, cross‑training, and SME development across microservices, UI, backend components, and CI/CD workflows.
- Encourage innovation, adoption of automation tools, and use of AI‑assisted test case generation where applicable.
Operational Excellence
- Troubleshoot production issues; provide root‑cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure adequate documentation for handovers, especially before PTO or work transitions.
- Contribute to reducing technical debt and maintaining parity across platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8–12+ years of hands‑on development experience (Java/Spring Boot, full‑stack, or relevant tech stack).
- Strong knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Experience with Angular/React (for full‑stack roles), SQL/NoSQL databases, and distributed system concepts.
- Excellent understanding of branching strategies, Git workflows, and DevOps practices.
- Ability to work independently, own solutions end‑to‑end, and demonstrate strong accountability.
- Experience coordinating with QA, conducting code reviews, and leading feature delivery.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
Nice‑to‑Have
- Exposure to performance testing, security testing practices
- Familiarity with Playwright/Cucumber or other automation frameworks.
- Experience on the front end development technologies
