This role is for an Lead Data Engineer - Investment Data Platform (Support).
The role involves maintaining, supporting, enhancing high-quality, scalable software aligned with business outcomes. In a collaborative, agile environment, you will work within a cross-functional team to refine user stories and implement necessary fixes, functionalities. Responsibilities include unit testing and controlled release of support requests, small changes, enhancements, etc. You will use critical thinking to solve business and technical problems. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of software/data engineering skills, data exploration, and domain knowledge to provide wholistic solutions for our stakeholders and expand our data services.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Provide Technical Support on Critical Production issues with Asset/Investment Data Platform.
- Provide L2 Technical Support on various Technical Data Platform Debt delivery, e.g., SQL databases, Deprecation, Modernisation, DevOps Pipeline fixes, Function App upgrade, etc.
- Support data platform teams with small changes, including, but not limited to, data modelling, data integration, software engineering, testing, and releases.
- Contribute to supporting/delivering software that meets business outcomes and team standards, following the SDLC for the Data Platform.
- Support scalable solutions for the data platform team in an agile environment and if required, assist in getting design approvals in relevant forums.
- Provide a quality service and product to customers and stakeholders, further developing skills built through significant practical experience or training.
- Work within established frameworks, with the freedom to interpret them to solve various issues.
- Understand and follow data engineering best practices, also being part of the community of practice.
- Suggest and implement data platform improvements based on experience, and contribute to improvement discussions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and Asset Management Technology & Change teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification
Knowledge & Skills (Key):
- As this role is dedicated into Support, should be comfortable working in support model, separate from Change.
- Experienced in analysing large data sets. Possess data exploration and analytical skills to solve issues and understand software.
- Investigate data platform issues by using relevant insights/information.
- Demonstrate software engineering skills with experience in SQL, C# and the .Net Framework. Knowledge of software patterns and principles.
- Experience working with data on Azure including Azure Data Lake, ADLA, Cosmos DB, SQL and NoSQL dbs, and Datafactory pipelines.
- A good understanding of DevOps principles and experience in building CI/CD pipelines.
- Has some Azure experience on PaaS services such as App Service, Function App, Logic App, Service Bus and Key Vault.
- Understands Azure AD, Service Principals and Managed Identities to configure role based access for Data solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify problems, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently to meet timelines/deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with clear and effective communication, both written and oral, within a project team.
- Some knowledge of REST APIs and Microservices and API management on Apigee..
Knowledge & Skills (Desirable):
- Experience/Knowledge in using Databricks for data ingestion or transformation.
- Experience/Knowledge in Snowflake.
- Foundational understanding of the components of Investment Data (Transactions, Positions, Instrument T&Cs, etc)
- Experience to financial markets & asset management processes and understand analysis into a wide variety of asset classes and associated analytics (e.g. Equity, Fixed Income, Private Assets etc.)
Experience:
- 8+ years of total experience in software engineering.
- 4+ years of latest/recent experience in a data engineering support/role.
Educational Qualification:
- Graduate in any discipline.
