Sola Wood Flowers is hiring a Handicrafts Manufacturing Manager to lead our production facility in Kolkata as we keep scaling.
In this role, you'll be the person responsible for everything that happens on our manufacturing floor. From output and quality to people and processes, you'll be running the show day to day. Our Kolkata team is 40+ people strong, and we need a leader who can guide them, lift their performance, and keep the operation moving with precision.
About us
Sola Wood Flowers is reinventing what artificial flowers can be. Our handcrafted wooden blooms are eco-friendly, beautifully made, and priced so everyday couples can afford them. That mix has earned us a place in over 6% of weddings across the United States each year. Our Kolkata facility is at the heart of how we deliver that product, and we're looking for someone who can run it like it's their own.
The culture and the kind of person who fits
Culture fit is the number one thing we screen for.
We have a real drive to win. If a job needs doing and it gets us closer to our goals, no role here is above doing it.
We get inventive with what we have, and we move fast.
Decisions here are grounded in data. The only friendly debates we have are about how to capture better data and how to read it more accurately.
We're learners by default. Every challenge is just another chance to grow.
If you're after a calm, predictable corporate role, this isn't it.
If, on the other hand, you want to:
Help build a fast-moving company and scale it past $100mm.
Work alongside sharp, motivated, hardworking teammates who care about the result.
Operate in a place free of office politics.
Share in the upside through a clear, written compensation philosophy.
…you'll feel right at home here.
Core objectives
- Run the day-to-day of our handicrafts manufacturing operation end to end.
- Hit or exceed the KPIs we agree on with the leadership team.
- Take ownership of adjacent functions like HR, admin, and other operational needs that come with running a facility.
- Use data and lean thinking to surface process improvements and drive them through.
What we're looking for
- Experience leading a team of roughly 30 to 50 people.
- Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing.
- Comfortable inside ERP systems and other operational tools.
- Willing and able to be on-site every day at our Kolkata facility.
- Fluent in English and Bengali, both written and spoken.
- Happy to roll up your sleeves and step into any part of the business when needed.
- Open to providing references when asked. Our interview process is rigorous because we'd rather invest the time upfront than work through a mishire.
- Strong alignment with the values described above.
Examples of what your work will actually look like
- Owning the daily rhythm of the plant once we're at full pace, and making sure we meet or exceed production targets.
- Leading kaizen events to keep refining our processes and output.
- Designing and rolling out a structured training program for the India team.
How our hiring works and how we run things
- After you're hired, we'll align with you on the exact KPIs you'll own and the targets you're aiming at, so there's no guessing about how you're tracking.
- The flow: a short intro chat, then a longer working-style technical interview with the relevant team. From first interview to offer, our average turnaround is around 8 to 10 days. We respond quickly and keep candidates posted throughout.
- Internally, we run on EOS/Traction. If you've worked with Scaling Up or OKRs, you'll pick up Traction quickly. If it's new to you, we'd suggest a quick read-up before interviewing.
- For this role specifically, we'll walk you through the long-term vision for the business, the bigger opportunities we're chasing, and exactly where this seat fits into the picture.
