As a GIS Data Engineer, you will build, maintain and improve spatial data processing pipelines that support map maintenance and geospatial data products. You will work with diverse spatial data sources to analyze changes, improve data quality and increase automation in map update workflows. This role combines strong GIS data engineering, spatial analytics and automation skills, with opportunities to apply AI/ML methods to scalable geospatial processing.
In this role, you will:
- Build and run geospatial data workflows: Independently develop, maintain, and execute complex data engineering processes for ingesting, transforming, validating, and comparing external spatial data used in map creation and maintenance.
- Apply GIS tools and programming: Use Python, SQL, FME, ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, and related technologies to process, integrate, analyze, and improve geospatial datasets and workflows.
- Perform spatial analysis and resolve issues: Detect change, identify quality issues, investigate fallouts, and resolve problems in data conversion, bulk updates, and map content.
- Improve automation and efficiency: Design and implement automation for feature matching, attribute comparison, change detection, and coding workflows to increase scale and reduce manual effort
- Strengthen data quality and reliability: Implement validation, monitoring, alerts, and performance measures to improve data quality, traceability, and operational stability.
- Support applied AI/ML workflows: Contribute to practical AI/ML solutions such as classification, confidence scoring, anomaly detection, and prioritization in geospatial processing.
- Collaborate across teams: Partner with engineering, analytics, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable geospatial data solutions.
