About this role

We are looking for a DevOps engineer to join the Implementation Services team, working within the Aladdin Platform Group. A person who has a passion for technical troubleshooting, learning new technology tools and improving new procedures & processes. This role involves identifying trends and being a problem solver with a proven aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and proprietary systems. You will be a technical product expert during customer implementation projects, organize and implement the system deployment plans, while automating software integration and developing reports in compliance with applicable project requirements.

Role Responsibility 

 

  • Build, update, and maintain tooling to deploy, upgrade, monitor, and maintain infrastructure hosted in AWS and Azure. 

  • Designing, implementing and working with automated solutions for cloud-based infrastructure 

  • Developing or modifying scripts, code to automate tasks and meet business requirements. 

  • Contribute to a library of software that enables the smooth operation of BlackRock products. 

  • Help to suggest and design both short-term and long-term engineering solutions to improve existing operational workflows. 

  • Build relationships with stakeholders to understand their roles and requirements and clearly communicate with them on progress, challenges, and questions. 

  • Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit and regression testing, and level two production support for owned tools. 

  • Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-time zone environment. 

 

 

Skills/Qualifications: 

 

  • A degree specializing in Computer Science, Technology, MIS, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar. 

  • 1 - 2 years of industry experience in an engineering role. 

  • Experience in a scripting language such as Python or PowerShell, including respective testing modules. 

  • Exposure to and understanding of cloud ecosystems such as AWS or Azure, including knowledge of their respective APIs for provisioning and monitoring particularly Terraform. 

  • Understanding of Agile work environments, including knowledge of Azure DevOps, GIT and CI/CD. 

  • Experience with Windows Server environments. 

  • Experience troubleshooting clients' technical issues, and experience working with engineering teams, sales, professional services, and customers. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

  • Ability to work with teams across geography. 

  • Create and deliver best practices recommendations, documentation for internal wiki pages, and presentations. 

 

Good to have: 

 

  • Experience with Linux server environments. 

  • Experience with Kubernetes environments. 

  • Previous experience working in the Financial Services or Technology industry.
