In an operational environment with complex contract structures, high client expectations, and increasing regulatory constraints, DEME is seeking a Contract Manager to support its operations in India. Based in our Chennai office, you will assist in the execution of the regional projects from a contractual-technical perspective, managing contracts with clients, main contractors, and related subcontracts and supply agreements.Your responsibilities 

  • Participate in or support negotiations, including risk and opportunity analysis, strategy development, and drafting of (legal) documents for the various regional projects.

  • Review Charter Party Terms and Conditions for chartering dredgers, vessels, and equipment.

  • Serve as the primary contact for all contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle of the regional projects.

  • Proactively monitor and manage contractual rights and obligations under contracts and/or subcontracts.

  • Ensure timely and proper notification of any contractual entitlements as per contract / subcontract terms.

  • Initiate and manage project-related variations and claims.

  • Address and provide legal support regarding all and any contractual issues encountered during execution of the regional projects.

  • Maintain clear and direct communication lines with all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work in close collaboration with DEME’s Legal Department located in Belgium.

Your profile 

  • Master’s degree in Law, Economics, or Engineering.

  • 10+ years of contract management experience, ideally within DEME’s fields of expertise. Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, BIMCO, and LOGIC contracts is essential.

  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written communication.

  • Business-minded with a hands-on approach.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently, managing workload and priorities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Open-minded, adaptable, and resilient under pressure.
