As a member of a data engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, delivery, maintenance and support of data pipelines and applications. You'll bring experience managing and supporting Postgres and SQL Server databases, along with experience building data ingestion pipelines on the Databricks platform. We're looking for a self-motivated professional with experience designing and architecting technical solutions and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages. You will propose, develop, and support customer-facing applications, delivering hands-on solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
How your day-to-day work will look like:
- Architect, design, and deliver high-quality code independently, following industry best practices.
- Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your work.
- Diagnose and fix production issues, communicating with the development lead to raise issues and anticipate potential barriers.
- Build enterprise applications at scale using expertise in computer science fundamentals, developing scalable, high-availability, high-performance components across front-end and back-end architectures.
- Seek empirical evidence through proof of concepts, tests, and external research; participate in special projects as assigned.
This would make you the ideal candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering RDS Postgres and Aurora databases, with an understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
- Experience with the Databricks platform, including Unity Catalog, notebooks, and pipeline creation.
- 3 years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering principles and practices.
- Demonstrated record of contributing successfully in distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.
- Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS, Serverless, Event-Driven Architecture, SOA, Microservices, Microfrontend, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code) and other modern technologies.
- Proficiency with professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
